Youth and Women at the Centre of Agenda 2063 Delivery
Youth and women remain at the centre of Agenda 2063, and recent gatherings have renewed the focus on turning Africa's demographic strength into a development advantage. Africa has the youngest population of any continent, and the sixth Aspiration places people driven development, especially the empowerment of women and youth, at the heart of the vision.
The opportunity is often described as a demographic dividend. A large, educated, healthy and productive young population can power decades of growth, provided there is investment in education, skills, health, decent work and meaningful participation in decision making.
Initiatives across the continent are widening access to quality education and digital skills, supporting young entrepreneurs, advancing gender equality, and creating structured channels for young people to shape policy rather than simply be consulted. The sixth Moonshot commits the continent to citizens who are more empowered and more productive by 2033.
The message from young Africans themselves is consistent. They want to be partners in delivery, not spectators, and platforms that help them learn the agenda and act on it are part of how that participation grows.
